We can say to ourselves (especially in the safety and security of our lives) that nothing can happen to us:
"I will never be a widow or suffer the loss of children." (v. 8b)
It can never happen to me.. it can happen to everyone else but me.
Well, it can. Who will save you?

(secular music, ipods, phones, tv, shopping, friends, money)
glitz and glamour wont be here forever, but GOD will be here forever in our lives <3
i agree to. we always see other things as more significant and important than God in our lives that we treat those material things as a god. I guess that is what lent is for. to bring out the true power of our Lord when we put aside our lusts and desires. and if you think about it, nothing lasts forever except God. For example, a panasonic toughbook. Even though it is waterproof and shockproof and whatever, it will eventually break down. Not God though.
