April 15 - Romans 8:1-17

vv. 1-4 THEREFORE - always means it's continuing from what was said in the previous verses. SO, for those who are in Christ sin has no power over them. There is no condemnation. Because the law can't save - aren't we glad Jesus does save! (The law only condemns and reveals our sinfulness)

Jesus has given us a second chance. And it's not just a second chance to really live - he lets us call God ABBA father. That is a very personal way of addressing our Father. It's like appa in Korean or daddy.. We have been given the Spirit of God and so may we be led by the Spirit of God.

But this is where Paul wants to address something. For many of us, even though we are filled with the Spirit there are times when we are timid in our faith. We are afraid to be bold and follow God and so out of that FEAR we succumb to sin.

"For you did not receive a spirit that makes you a slave again to fear, but you received the Spirit of sonship." (Or daughtership)

May we not act out of fear in our lives but may we act out of the confidence that comes from knowing that the Spirit of God lives in us (that means He's constantly walking and talking to you) and may we act like the princes and princesses of God's kingdom.

Think about it. How would you live differently knowing you are a prince or a princess?
